Memory problems are common, especially in older age. They can be linked to a variety of factors and diseases, but the greatest concern is usually whether they are a sign of Alzheimer's disease. Early recognition of memory problems allows an early search for the cause, treatment of the cause when it can be eliminated, and relief of the consequences when it cannot. In Alzheimer's disease, early recognition is also important because of new treatment options that can help some patients with early Alzheimer's disease who meet precisely defined diagnostic criteria.

That is why MD Medicina has developed a targeted first assessment of cognitive abilities. It includes a consultation, an assessment of memory and other higher brain functions, and a targeted neurological examination. Based on the findings, we advise on any additional tests, monitoring and measures to prevent or slow the progression of the problems. We also give a professionally grounded, clear opinion on whether further tests for Alzheimer's disease are advisable and whether newer medicines for this disease could be an option.

The assessment is intended for people who notice memory problems or whose relatives draw their attention to them. It does not benefit people who already have a diagnosis of dementia or cognitive decline.

Preparing for the examination
If you wear glasses or a hearing aid, please bring them with you. You are welcome to bring someone close to you. Please bring a list of your medicines and any laboratory tests or head scans you have had recently. However, there is no need to have tests done just for this assessment.
