He completed his medical studies in 2003 at the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana and completed his specialization in urology with honors in 2010. He passed the European exam in urology (Fellow of EBU) and is a member of the EAU (European Association of Urology). He regularly attends professional meetings and constantly receives additional education abroad. In 2014, he received education in Belgium, where he gained knowledge about minimally invasive surgery. In 2016, he received additional education in the field of robotic surgery in England.
Field of work
He performs a wide range of urological surgical procedures, focusing on minimally invasive techniques. As a pioneer in the field of robotic surgery in Slovenia, Dr. Hawlina performs complex urological operations also with the help of a robotic system. His expertise includes the following procedures:
Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP)
treatment of benign enlarged prostate, which can cause problems with urination.
Transurethral resection of the bladder (TURM)
bladder cancer treatment.
Hydrocele surgery: A hydrocele is a buildup of fluid around the testicle, which can cause discomfort or swelling.
Robotic-assisted surgery, which allows for greater precision, a lower risk of complications, and faster patient recovery.
