He completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana in 1996 and became a specialist in internal medicine in 2002. In 2013, he became a specialist in cardiology and vascular medicine. He continues his scientific and professional development all over the world. He completed his training in stress echocardiography in Pisa, Italy, from 2007 to 2009, and in 2012 and 2023, he also completed the European accreditation of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. He has completed training in the field of diagnostics and treatment of pulmonary hypertension, treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and cardiopulmonary stress testing in Europe and the United States. He received his PhD in 2017.
