He completed his medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, where he received his master's degree in 2001 on the treatment of hip fractures, and his doctorate in 2007. He completed his specialization in general surgery in 2002, and his specialization in traumatology in 2011. He has completed his clinical and research career at numerous international institutions, including Helsinki, Tel Aviv and Trieste. For many years, he has been actively involved in the education of traumatology experts as an international lecturer within the AO Trauma organization, where he currently serves as the head of education for Europe and South Africa. His professional work focuses on the surgical treatment of acute lower limb injuries, correction of complications after fractures and complex hip replacements.
