High effectiveness: precise removal of prostate tissue, leading to an improvement in lower urinary tract symptoms such as difficulty urinating, weak stream, and nighttime urination.
Low risk of bleeding: laser technology provides excellent control over bleeding, which is especially important for older patients and those with blood clotting disorders.
Faster recovery: shorter hospital stay and faster recovery compared to traditional methods such as TURP. Most patients are discharged home on the first day after the procedure.
Long-lasting effect: long-term studies confirm lasting symptom relief and improved quality of life for patients.
It is suitable for men with:
ThuLEP is a modern, minimally invasive, and safe method for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia, with a high rate of long-term success and a low risk of serious complications. Despite its high effectiveness and low risk profile, certain complications may occur. These are rare, mostly mild and temporary, but it is important to be aware of them.
Sebastian Jeršinovič, M.D., is considered one of the most experienced Slovenian urologists in the field of laser treatment of enlarged prostate. He gained his expertise at the University Clinic in Tübingen, Germany, one of Europe’s leading centers for minimally invasive urology. He brings the latest surgical standards from Germany to Slovenia.
Stones in the kidneys, ureter, and bladder can cause pain, frequent urge to urinate, urinary tract infections, and kidney damage.. In the Center for Modern Urology , we use advanced laser technology for minimally invasive removal of urinary stones – with the help of the thulium laser, which ensures exceptional precision, safety, and fast recovery.
Thanks to the expertise Dr. Sebastian Jeršinovičwho specialized in laser urology at the University Clinic in Tübingen (Germany)in cooperation with the most advanced surgical medical center in Slovenia – MD Medicina, as the only private urology center in Slovenia we perform procedures according to the highest European standards.
Urinary stones form due to the crystallization of minerals in the urine. Smaller stones (under 5 mm) often pass spontaneously, while larger ones may cause:
Thulium laser allows precise and safe fragmentation of stones (lithotripsy) in the kidney, ureter, and bladder. Compared to traditional methods, it allows highly controlled fragmentation even in very delicate parts of the urinary tract.
Laser removal of urinary stones is necessary in cases of:
With a special high-resolution (UHD) camera, the stone in the kidney, ureter, or bladder is identified and, under direct vision, treated with a laser fiber. Dust particles are rinsed out, while larger stone fragments are physically removed with a special basket. This allows us to send a stone sample for analysis, based on which preventive treatment can be indicated during further nephrological management to prevent the recurrence of kidney stones. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, in most cases on an outpatient basis, which means patients can be discharged home the same day. During the procedure, a ureteral stent (JJ stent) is placed for a few days and later removed painlessly on an outpatient basis. The patient is usually fit for work by the second or third day after surgery.
Dr. Jeršinovič has extensive experience in endoscopic stone removal using laser technology, gained also at the renowned University Hospital in Tübingen, recognized as a leading European center for laser urology. His expertise enables individually tailored therapeutic approaches – even in more complex cases.
