He completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana in 1978 and graduated from the postgraduate course in gerontology in 1982. He completed his specialization in orthopedics in 1988. He received his master's degree in 1993 from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb and his doctorate in 1999 from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. He is professionally and pedagogically active both at home and abroad (Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford, United Kingdom). He is a mentor to orthopedics residents as well as for graduate theses in higher education. In 2014, he was elected to the title of associate professor in the field of orthopedics. He has been working on scientific research projects in the field of biomedicine for several years.
