He completed his medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana and completed his specialization in urology in 1983. He completed his master's and doctorate at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. In 1998, he was elected to the title of associate professor of surgery and passed on his knowledge to students at both the Ljubljana and Maribor Medical Faculties. He has completed numerous training courses abroad, and continues to improve his skills at seminars and congresses in urology in world centers. He participated in the development and work of kidney transplantation and performed surgical procedures, especially for prostate, kidney and testicular cancer.
