Testicular hydrocele is a buildup of serous fluid around the testicles. The condition is not life-threatening and does not impair testicular function, but it can be bothersome if it grows to a large size.

The prostate is a gland located in the lower urinary tract, just below the bladder and surrounding the urethra (Figure 1a). The prostate is found only in men. It produces a fluid that helps transport semen. It contains smooth muscle that pushes semen out during ejaculation. A healthy prostate is about the size of a large walnut and has a volume of 15–25 milliliters. The gland slowly enlarges with age.

Bladder cancer is a common disease and ranks fifth in frequency in men. It is less common in women, but is detected in the advanced stages of the disease. The urinary bladder is located in the pelvis, just behind the pubic bone, and is a reservoir for urine. Roughly speaking, the organ consists of an inner layer, which is made up of urothelial cells, and a multilayered muscular part, which is responsible for emptying. In between is connective tissue.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in Slovenia. More than 1,400 cases are diagnosed each year, surpassing both skin cancer and colon cancer in terms of the number of patients. The percentage of patients increases significantly with age.

SelectMDx assesses the patient's current risk of having high-risk prostate cancer with high certainty, which helps the urologist and patient decide whether to proceed with further diagnostics to confirm the cancer (biopsy, MRI) or just to monitor closely. The reliability of the SelectMDx test is very high. It predicts a negative result with 98% reliability, which exceeds both prostate biopsy and prostate magnetic resonance imaging.
