\nA hydrocele of the testicles is the accumulation of serous fluid around the testicles. The condition is not life-threatening and does not impair testicular function, but it can become bothersome if it grows significantly. There are several causes, most commonly injury, inflammation of the epididymis\/testicle, testicular carcinoma, or a condition following varicocele or hernia surgery.\nBefore surgery, it is essential to perform an ultrasound of the scrotum to rule out carcinoma, hernia, and other pathologies that may clinically present as a hydrocele. We distinguish between non-communicating and communicating hydrocele, as well as funiculocele.\n<\/div>\n<\/div>

\nHow is the surgery performed?\n<\/h2>
\nHydrocele surgery is performed under general or spinal anesthesia. The surgeon makes an incision above the scrotum and isolates the hydrocele. The sac is then opened, the excess membrane around the testicles is removed, and the area is sutured. A drain is inserted, and the scrotum is closed using absorbable stitches.\n<\/div>

\nHydrocele surgery is not an urgent procedure, as it does not affect testicular function and is not life-threatening.
